2nd. INTERNATIONAL CONTEST ON ARCHITECTURE WEB SITES

THAT EMPHASIZE ITS RELATIONSHIP TO OTHER FIELDS

PURPOSE

To recognize and promote Web Sites whose contents provide access to the knowledge and dissemination of architectural critique, analyses and investigation with an interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and trans-disciplinary focus.

THE 2004 INVITATION

The UNAM's Master and PhD program on Architecture, and its research workshop on "Arquitectura y Humanidades' invites candidates to participate in the second website contest, available on the Internet, whose focus is Architecture and its interrelationship to other fields.

The "Architecture y Humanities"   workshop guarantees and respects the copyright and confidentiality of participants' projects registering for this contest.

A Jury and a Technical Committee has been formed to promote, organize and carry out this contest.

The Technical Committee is formed by professors and students from the UNAM's Master and PhD program on Architecture, and its research workshop:"Architecture y Humanities".

THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE FROM THE JURY:

UNAM's Master and PhD program on Architecture will give a recognition to the first three places, and a certificate of participation to all contestants.

We will start receiving documentation on March 15, 2004
The last day to send documents in is June 30, 2004

RULES

1.- GENERAL WEBSITE INFORMATION:

1.- Full printout of the registration form and original letter of acceptance dully filled out and signed by the official representative or by three of his/hers collaborators.

2.- Legible photocopy of the official representative's ID and of up to three of his/hers representatives.

3.- Two letters form Institutions or well-known people in the architectural academic arena who recommend the website.

 

4.- E-MAIL THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS:

1.- Website's name and address
2.- Website's purpose and focus as related to other fields (up to 250 words).
3.- Layout, contents and site map (up to 250 words).
4.- Contents' synthesis (up to 250 words).
5.- Number of articles (essays, books, pieces, collaborations, etc.) published on the website (up to 250 words).
6.- A brief description on how the website is funded: its human, physical, institutional and economic resources, and its subsidies, if any etc. (up to 250 words).
7.- Time the website has been running on the Internet.
8. Statistical summary of hits (one page).
9.- Text and image file volume in Bytes, KB or MB (up to 125 words).

 

5.- DOCUMENT GUIDELINES:

1.- Files must be sent in Word or PDF.
2.- Arial, 12 points, single spacing.
3.- All documents must contain a footer with the Project's ID number and page number.
4.- None of the pages can show the name of the representative nor of the collaborators.


6.- ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RECEIPT OF DOCUMENTATION:

Alter all documents have been received, participants will be notified through an e-mail if their Project was accepted or not by the Technical Committee to accept in this contest.


7.- POWERS OF THE TECHNICAL COMMITTEE AND JURY

The Technical Committee reserves the right to admit or reject participants, as well as the right to declare the contest null.
The Jury's decision may not be appealed.

NOTE: The functions of the Technical Committee and of the Jury are only academic in nature.


8.- DISQUALIFICATIONS

All projects will be reviewed by the Technical Committee. The Committee will disqualify any Project that does not comply with the requirements.


9.- CONTEST RESULTS.

Starting in October 2004, the "Arquitectura y Humanidades" workshop will publish the results in www.architecthum.edu.mx as well as in the UNAM's School of Architecture's news bulletin.

la enseñanza y el aprendizaje del oficio de arquitecto,
el acto contemplativo de una obra de Arquitectura,
el sentido de pertenencia y de identidad a un espacio arquitectónico,

la filosofía, la poética y la crítica arquitectónica,
los concursos de Arquitectura, las tecnologías constructivas y propositivas, reales y virtuales,
la correspondencia entre las artes y entre los campos de conocimiento,
el contexto geo-mito-socio-histórico de una comunidad,
con su voluntad creativa y con sus anhelos,
el objeto arquitectónico en sí,
... todo esto y aún más, es Arquitectura,
todo esto proponemos resumir en una sola idea: Habitabilidad.
